KateLyn Syphus
Administrative Director
KateLyn (Katie) Syphus earned a Masters Degree in Arts Administration from Southern Utah University, and a degree in Violin Performance from Dixie State University. During her studies she served as concertmaster of the university and chamber orchestras, as well as attended prestigious summer camps including Brevard Music Center and the Symphony Orchestra Academy of the Pacific.
A Utah native, Katie met her husband Shaun, a pianist, in St. George. While living there, Katie served as the concertmaster of the Southwest Symphony, was a member of the Harborwood String Quartet, and played violin in the Tuacahn Amphitheater pit orchestra. Now residing in Pleasant Grove, Katie just completed a nine year service with the Orchestra at Temple Square. She also served as concertmaster of the Deseret Symphony Orchestra. Every summer she joins the faculty of Castle Rock Music Camp at Utah Tech University.
Katie spends most of her time at home with her three kids and too many animals, but regularly freelances with organizations including the Utah Metropolitan Ballet, Pioneer Theater Company, BYU Choirs, and Lux Choral Society, among others. Other notable performances include contracts with Mannheim Steamroller, Celtic Women, and Gentri. She also contracts regularly as a session violinist for recording sessions throughout the state. In an administrative capacity, she contracts musicians for local organizations and served as Director of Development for Lux Choral Society.
When she’s not violining or momming, her favorite pastimes are hiking, tending to her tiny backyard “homestead,” or reading a good book with a good treat.
